Based in the western part of the United States, the Golden State Warriors is part of the National Basketball Association in the Western Conference and was founded in Oakland, California. They were formerly discovered in Philadelphia, PA as the Philadelphia Warriors back in 1946, and won their first championship from playing under the Basketball Association of America that has later become the NBA after being unified with the NBL or National Basketball League.
After that, they move to San Francisco and named themselves the San Francisco Warriors from 1962 to 1971. From then on, they used the name Golden State Warriors and kept it until today. They were able to play in different arenas as their home court like the Philadelphia Arena, Philadelphia Convention Hall, Cow Palace, San Francisco Civic Auditorium, USF War Memorial Gymnasium, San Diego Sports Arena, San Jose Arena and the Coliseum Arena also known as the Arena in Oakland and Oracle Arena. In the near future they are planning to transfer to the New San Francisco Arena.
The Golden State Warriors has earned a lot of great players and coaches that participated in the whole NBA history. Some of them are Rick Barry during the 1970’s and Garry St. Jean in the late 1990’s, Chris Mullin, Paul Arizin, Wilt Chamberlin and Andy Philip to name a few.
Today, in their highest points they already have had 19 individuals, players and coaches that have their names spotted in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame awards and a lot of team and individual awards through the whole journey of playing as Philadelphia, San Francisco and the Golden State Warriors. Through the struggles they had faced in their playing career, they still managed to overcome the challenges and opportunities as a team, up until the current and future NBA season.
