Dallas Mavericks popularly known as “Mavs” is a team situated in Dallas, Texas. The team is part of the Southwest Division of the Western Conference in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Their history began when a businessman named Don Carter, who was also associated by Norm Sonju demanded the right to bring the NBA franchise in Dallas, Texas. For the record, the notable professional NBA team in Dallas was the Dallas Chaparrals of the American Basketball Association (ABA), the name later became the San Antonio Spurs in 1973 after the team moved to San Antonio.
The name of the team was ideally suggested by their fans which came from a TV Western “Maverick”. In the NBA history, Dallas was one of the most praised NBA teams at all times as they were the only team who gathered 4600 postcards defeating Express and Wranglers.
After their inaugural season in the years 1980 and 1981, the Mavericks have had victories in winning three division titles during the years 1987, 2007 and 2010. Pluses were the two conference championships happened back in the years 2006 and 2011.
In the recent time, it has been reported by Forbes Magazine that Dallas Mavericks ranked as the fifth most valuable basketball franchise in the United States. The approximate franchise value of the team is $685 million, which exceeds among other big NBA teams such as the Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks and Boston Celtics.
The said report is fully associated with visible evidence as the Dallas Mavericks sold out a total of 477 frequent games since 2001 until 2013. The Dallas team also holds a record breaking streak of the major league sports in North America.
